Shanghai pioneered 60K large-filament carbon fiber
Yesterday, Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical released its independently developed 60K large-filament carbon fiber in Shanghai. This product is a domestic first, effectively filling the domestic industrial gap, and its performance has reached the international leading level. By now, Shanghai has the production capacity of nearly 20 types of carbon fiber products with different filament specifications such as 24K, 48K and 60K, and the carbon fiber industry chain has achieved independent control.
Carbon fiber is widely used in fields such as wind energy, solar energy, high-speed rail and bullet trains, and aircraft components. For a long time, the development of carbon fiber in China has mainly focused on small-filament carbon fiber. Shanghai Petrochemical has successfully overcome the technical difficulties in the industrial production of large-capacity single nozzles with a capacity of over 60K, completing the full process “passing through” from the preparation of raw silk to oxidation and carbonization of 60K large-filament carbon fiber, achieving industrial trial production, and becoming the first domestic enterprise capable of producing 60K large-filament carbon fiber.
Huang Xiangyu, the deputy general manager of Shanghai Petrochemical, introduced that in recent years, as the domestic wind power industry has gradually advanced into the deep sea, higher requirements have been put forward for the length and modulus of wind turbine blades. After testing and verification, the tensile strength of Shanghai Petrochemical’s 60K carbon fiber filament bundle is 23% higher than that of 48K, and a single filament bundle can lift a weight of 1 ton. The elastic modulus is 5% higher than that of 48K, and it can be applied to scenarios such as deep-sea wind turbine blades with greater power and larger blades.
